5000 Orphans Benefit From Former Governor Yari’s Ramadan/Sallah Welfare Package

The former Governor of Zamfara, Alhaji Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar has donated food items and clothing materials to 5,000 orphans for them to celebrate Sallah in a good mood.


Presenting the items to the orphans in Gusau today, Yari, who was represented by his former Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Alhaji Abdullahi Maharazu, said ‘It is necessary to assist the orphans, considering the fact that, they have nobody to look after them”.

 “It is the teaching of the Noble Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to take care of the needy, more especially the Orphans”.

“ That is why when Yari was the Governor of the state, he used to provide Ramadan and Sallah Welfare packages to 40,000 orphans every year”.

Other beneficiaries waiting for their share

The Secretary of the selection and screening committee of the exercise, Malam Sanusi Dan Alhaji, said that a total of 166 girls and 111 boys who are orphans were selected for the gesture from each of the 16 emirates in the state.


Dan Alhaji said that Gusau emirate alone has a total of 332 girls, 222 boys orphans selected to benefit from the assistance.

Some items received by each orphan

He further said that over N105 million was spent to procure the items and each of the beneficiaries received the food items and clothing materials worth N21,000.

He said that the distribution committees were set up from the 17 emirates of the state for the exercise.

He called on members of the distribution exercise to fear God in the discharge of their assignment and make sure that all the items were distributed to the targeted beneficiaries.
