The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Gusau, Professor Muazu Abubakar has expressed displeasure over the transfer of the two female Professors of the University.
The two Professors were: Professors Bilkisu A. Shinkafi and Prof. Sa’adatu A. Shinkafi all of the Faculty of Science who are leaving the University for University of Abuja.
Delivering a farewell address during a send off party organized for the two Professors, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Muazu Abubakar could not control his feeling of losing the two Professors when maintained that he was touched by their redeployment.
Professor Muazu described the transfer of the two Professors as one of the saddest moment of his life.
“I have to be frank with you and I can’t hide my feelings, your transfer is a serious loss for me as well as the entire management of this University”.
“You have greatly assisted in the development of this young but promising institution”.
“We are indeed missing you so much but that is the nature of public service. We are wishing you the best of luck in your future assignment”. Concluded the Vice Chancellor.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman Organising Committee, who was also the HOD, Physics Department, Dr. Lawal Sa’ad Welcomed all to the event and prayed to almighty God to make it a success.
Also speaking, the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Kabiru Abdullahi stated that as a scientist, the history of his association with the two Professors could be traced back to 1995 in the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.
He stated that it was a great loss for the Faculty in particular and the University in general to have two female Professors leaving the services of the University at a time.
In her remarks, the HOD, Microbiology Department who was among the Celebrants, Prof. Sa’adatu A. Shinkafi thanked Almighty God for making the programme a success.
She expressed her happiness over the way her Department and Union honoured her, and now her Faculty.
“My feeling today is a mixed of happiness and sadness as we are leaving the services of the University leaving behind our very good friends.
“I thank the Management of the University and my Faculty for this honour and for always being strong support to us”, she said.
Also speaking, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Bilkisu .A. Shinka who was also the Former Dean, Faculty of Science, said that their leaving was just an extension of their stay in the University as wherever they found themselves, they would be good ambassadors of the University.
She expressed her appreciation and happiness that their stay and sacrifices for the University were appreciated by all and sundry.
While highlighting some of her contributions to the University, Prof. Bilkisu stated that she was happy to have chaired the Maiden Convocation Ceremony of the University.
