Three Tiers of Govt Must Work Together For Speedy Progress— Gov Bagudu

Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu on Saturday solicited sustained cooperation of the three tiers of government in the state.

According to the Governor, ” we must work together, under each other and move the state forward.

” This is also the only way we can ensure the entrenchment of sustainable democracy and provide the direly needed dividends of democracy to the people of the state.”

The Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum spoke when he monitored the State Delegates’ Conference of Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN as well as the inauguration of the newly elected executives.

” We must work together and that does not mean that we must compromise our independence .

” We must also stop the blame game. If we cooperate with each other, we can do more, otherwise, there will be no progress,” Bagudu, added.

The Kebbi State Governor noted that the Executive, Judiciary and Legislature in Kebbi State were enjoying a robust relationship, vowing that, the tempo would be sustained.

Bagudu further stated that all the three tiers of government in the State had recorded myriad of achievements and the feat would be sustained and consolidated.

The governor urged each of them to understand and appreciate their various limitations, hence, make Kebbi the pacesetter it should be.

” The unions, for instance, should not only be interested in the welfare of their members, but should bolster good governance as elitist groups.

” JUSUN is however different and justice is the foundation of the society. This is very crucial,” he said .


The Governor attributed some of the current challenges in the country to injustice and the neglect of some people who felt cheated.

In his welcome address, the Chairman Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria, Kebbi State chapter, comrade Umar Bawa noted that as always, the conference served as an avenue for the exchange of fraternal relationship among the members of the union.

He mentioned some of the achievements he has recorded owing to the robust cordial relationship with the management of the State Judiciary particularly the Chief Judge of Kebbi State, his lordship, Justice Suleiman Ambursa and the Grand Khadi, Hon. Justice Mukhtar Imam .

They include attending National meetings and conferences across the country, biometric ID card for the staff and seminars to enhance administration of Justice, he said.

He also commended the State Chief Judge, Justice Suleiman Ambursa for making sure that meaningful infrastructural development were recorded by Judiciary in spite of scarce resources, establishment of Pension Department for the State Judiciary among others.

He also commended the administration of Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for maintaining cordial relationship with industrial unions in the state.

The National President of JUSUN , Marwan Mustapha Adamu represented by Comrade AbdulAziz appreciated the effort of the management of Kebbi State Judiciary under the abled leadership of Hon. Justice Suleiman Muhammad Ambursa for the cordial relationship between the management and staff as well as for trying to ensure transparent election.

He advised the elected members to carry everybody along with honesty and dedication so as to protect the interest of their entire members.

The State Chief Judge, Justice Suleiman Muhammad Ambursa while welcoming the governor and congratulating the new officials of JUSUN charged them to be fair to all members and lead by example.

He commended the State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for his support to the State Judiciary since he assumed office as the State Chief Judge.

‘ Virtually, he provided all our request we forwarded to him and where he cannot, he will tell you. We are grateful sir ‘, he said.

He assured the Governor that the Kebbi State JUSUN remained one family.

According to him, the state was one of the states in the country that ensures quick dispensation of Justice by making sure that court cases were treated without unnecessary delay.

Earlier, the State Chairman of NLC, Comrade Umar Halidu congratulated the newly elected Kebbi State officials of JUSUN and called for a one minute silence in respect of the late Bello Alkali and late Abubakar Mahe, leaders of JUSUN who died in the State.

He reeled out myriad of achievements recorded by Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu towards the betterment of workers in the state to include, timely monthly payment of salary to workers, the new minimum wage as well as the recent approval of six billion naira for the payment of gratuity to retired civil servants .

He described the governor as Labour friendly .

The Kebbi State JUSUN elected officials are Umar Bawa, Chairman, Muhammad Dabai the Secretary, Ibrahim Lawal, Treasurer, Usman Malami as the new Organizing Secretary.

Others are Abubakar Muhammad, Financial Secretary, Kabiru Liman would serve as the Vice Chairman, the post of Auditor goes to Salihu Ibrahim, Dayyabu Usman, Legal Adviser,Samira Shanga, Legal Adviser while Musa Gulma would serve as the PRO
