Zamfara state government has sent 3,850 recruited youth for training at Police Training Colleges in Sokoto and Kaduna to serve in the community policing.
This was stated by the state’s commissioner of information, Alhaji Suleiman Tunau Anka, while breifing newsmen at a press conference today.
Anka said, the state government has recruited 7500 youths from 14 local government areas of the state, out of which, 3850 would be trained in the first batch and the second batch which consisted 3850 would also receive similar training as soon as the first batch returned.
According to the Commissioner, the successful candidates were thoroughly screened by the police command before they were recruited, adding that, they were also selected by their respective traditional rulers.
The commissioner said, the training was for a period of two months after which they would be deployed to their respective localities to help the conventional security agents in the fight against armed banditry and other criminal activities.
According to him, the state government would take care of their training as well as their allowances and would be sent to their respective local government areas Where they would serve as secretary agents to take charge of insecurity challenges in their localities.
He maintained that, this was part of the goverment’s plan to solve Insecurity and unemployment problem in the state.
