Zamfara State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to ensure adequate security during the forthcoming by election into the state House of Assembly for Bakura constituency.
Addressing the leaders of various political parties in Bakura town today, the Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Usman Nagogo said, the Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies have made adequate arrangements to ensure maximum security during the election.
Nagogo said the security agents would be in all the poling units within the local government area to maintain peace and order during the election, warning that, trouble makers would decisively be dealt with.
“We will not fold our arms to watch people toying with the security arrangements during the election no matter their positions”. Said Nagogo.
Nagogo declared that as “security personnel, we will remain apolitical and will work for the success of the conduct of the election”.
Also speaking, the state INEC Resident Commissioner, Hajiya Asma,u Maikudi appealed to the electorate to be law abiding during the forthcoming by-election, assuring them that, the election would be free and fair.
We will do our very best to make sure that the election is free and fair, we will declare whoever is elected as the winner”.
She urged the political parties who would participate in the election to send only one person each as representative in each of the poling units, stressing that, “the INEC will deal with only one agent”.
She also emphasized that, every voter must wear a facemask before he or she could be allowed to vote.
