Bandits have killed ten people, while five of them were also killed in Janbako town of Maradun local government area of Zamfara state in an encounter with vigilante group.
A resident of the town, Malam Ibrahim Janbako told Analyzer news on telephone conversation that the Bandits numbering about 100 trouped to the town on motorcycles around 10 am in the morning of today Sunday.
“Immediately after sighting the bandits who were carrying sophisticated weapons, everybody run helterskelter for safety and in the process, ten people were shot dead, while several others sustained serious injuries”. Said Ibrahim.
Ibrahim maintained that, the vigilante group of the town quickly mobilised to the scene where they faced the bandits.
“In the encounter with the dandits, the vigilante group of the town have succeeded in killing five of them”.
He however maintained that the bandits who were forced out of the town by the vigilante group have later returned to the town and took away the dead bodied of their members and run into the forest.
“We have already buried six people and we are looking into the possibility of burying the remaining four because we fear that the bandits may return to the community for reprisal attack”. Said Ibrahim.
When contacted for comment, the spokesperson of the state police command SP Mohammed Shehu told our reporter that, he was unaware of the incident.
He promised to speak as soon as he got information on the issue but up to the time of filing in this report, he didn’t respond.
