Addressing journalists at the court’s premises today, the Counsel to the Emir, Barrister Abubakar Aliyu Salisu said “The court has adjourned the sitting to February 17, next month”.

He stated that, “If you could remember, the former Emir was detained by Zamfara state Government for about 11 months at Government House, as such he filed a process for infringement of his fundamental human rights”.

He applied for the court to award him damages for the detention, the hearing was fixed today for adoption because the process has been filed”.

“So we appeared in the court for the adoption today but we received information that the case is no longer going to sit”.

“However, because the court has an appeal session from the lower courts and upper Shari’a courts where the matters are not within their jurisdiction”.

“So, that is why we are here for adoption but however, the case has been adjourned to February 17 adoption also”. Concluded Barrister Abubakar.
