The Zamfara State Police Command has debunked a story trending on various social media platforms that the Police Command had banned members of Special Constabulary from wearing uniform and performing other Police duties.
Ina statement, the spokesperson of the police command SP Mohammed Shehu said, “The story being circulated was completely misleading and capable of demoralising the morale of young and vibrant members of Special Constabulary from working towards the restoration of lasting peace in the state.
Shehu said “The Commissioner of Police CP Abutu Yaro in his interactive session with the Special Constabulary at Area Commands and Divisions across the State only banned them from bearing firearms and wearing regular police uniform as well as performing duties outside their communities”.
“In view of the above, the Command urged members of the public to disregard the online story”. Said the PPRO.
