Banditry: Matawalle visits attacked communities, assures more security

Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state has today visited some communities recently attacked by bandits and promised to deploy additional security personnel to restore peace in the affected areas.

The communities were; Dutsin Gari, Asha-lafiya,  Raiyau, Munkuru, Mahuta and Talli all in Maru local government area of the state who have relocated to Kanoma town.
The Governor also visited Janbako town in Maradun local government where nine people were killed as a result of a clash between the bandits and Yansakai.

Condoling the five affected communities of Dutsin Gari, Asha-lafiya, Raiyau, Munkuru, Mahuta and Talli all in Maru local government, Governor Matawalle sympathized with the communities and  assured them that, his administration would soon come to their aid.

He also assured them that, adequate security personnel would be deployed to the area  to restore peace so that the people could go back to their respective villages.

” I want to sincerity sympathize with you over the attacks and loss of your loved ones”.

“I assure you that I will do everything within my powers to make sure that you go back to your respective villages”.

” I will very soon send some relief materials to all of you as soon as possible. Said the Governor.

The Governor expressed disgust over the recent attacks and loss of lives of some people in the area, lamenting that, some heartless politicians were happy with the tragedies.

He declared that, his administration would soon fish out those people and punish them to serve as deterrent to others.
 In his response, the Emir of Maru, Alhaji Abubakar Gado Maigari has confirmed that, 35 people were killed in five deserted villages in his emirate during the recent attacks.

The Emir told the Governor that,  the affected communities have deserted their villages and relocated to Kanoma town.

He maintained that, the affected communities were currently in a terrible situation, calling on the Governor to come to their aid.

In Janbako community of Maradun local government area, the Governor expressed disgust over the way and manner how the two Fulani herdsmen were slaughtered by the members Yansakai.

The Governor stressed that, it was not in conformity with both Islamic and the conversational laws for anybody to take laws into his hand to settle a score.

“There is no law both in Islam and the laws of the land that allows people to take laws into their hands if they are offended”.

Matawalle therefore called on the people of the state, particularly the proscribed Yansakai to desist from such act, warning that, his administration would not take it lightly.

He charged traditional rulers in the state to caution there subjects to stop taking laws into their hands for peace to reign in the state.

He however maintained that, the people could defend themselves if they were attacked in their houses.

Matawalle also directed that henceforth, all traditional rulers must stay in their respective domains.

In his response, the Emir of Maradun, Alhaji Garba Tambari thanked the Governor for the visit and assured that, he would do everything possible within his powers to ensure the restoration of peace in his emirate.
