The Solicitors to the family of a fruits vendor who was killed by a happy trigger soldier in Gusau, Zamfara state capital, have demanded the Minister of Defence to direct the Nigerian Army to pay #200m to the family as compensation.

The Solicitors have also urged the authorities to punish the culprits according to the laws of the land.

Recall that, a fruit vendor in Gusau, Zamfara state capital, Abdulkadir Musa was shot dead by a gunman suspected to be a soldier for refusing to allow the assailant to go away with his bunch of bananas.

In a letter issued by M.B. Idris & Co dated on 08/06/2021 and signed by Bello Idris Galadi Esq it stated that “as Solicitors to the family of late Abdul-Kadir Musa (Mai Ayaba) of Gusau, Zamfara State on whose behalf and firm instructions we write to you herein”.

” You may wish to be notified that on Sunday, 9th May, 2021 at about 05:00pm, two Soldiers in mufti visited Abdul-Kadir at his shop located at Hayin Buba Junction, bye-pass road Gusau and priced a bunch of banana”.

“You may wish to be informed that argument erupted between the two Soldiers and the deceased over the price of the bunch of banana, shortly, a complaint was lodged against the Soldiers at Gusau Police Area Command upon which three Police officers rushed to the scene and disposed off the case”.

“Retrospectively, the Police officers urged the Soldiers to settle the deceased his N500 for the banana they bought, which they did, as if the case was over, only for the Soldiers to return in a couple of minutes with two firearms and one of them shot Abdul-Kadir in the chest and he died few minutes later.

“It may interest you to know that, even though the Soldiers had escaped immediately after the killing, but were subsequently arrested and are currently undergoing interrogation by both the Army authorities in Zamfara State and the Police Command”, the letter has explained.

The Solicitors therefore called on the Chief of Army Staff to do something immediately in order to compensate the family whose  breadwinner was mercilessly murdered by the Soldier without any reason.
