Zamfara police arrest bandits’ kingpin, suppliers of hard drugs, petroleum

Zamfara state police command has arrested a bandits kinpin, Bello Rugga, popularly called Bello Danmalankara.

Addressing journalists in his office in Saturday, the police Commissioner CP Ayuba N. Elkana said, Bello Danmalankara who was one of Turji’s Commanders was arrested on October 1, 2021 following credible intelligence report.

The Commissioner said, “On October I, 2021, Police tactical operatives on Anti-banditry operations around Gummi axis acted on intelligence report and  stormed Gudan bita, Malankara and kagara forest in search of one notorious bandit Known as Bello Rugga”.

“The bandit, who happens to be one of the Turji’s Commanders was the one in charge of Gummi, Gudan-bita, Malankara and kagara forest in Gummi local government area”.

Elkana said the bandit has been commanding series of attacks and kidnapping operations in Gummi that led to the unwanted killings of innocent people and kidnapping of many people where ransom was paid.

The Commissioner further explained that, the suspect who has many bandits under him was also in a possession of Ak 47 rifles and ammunition.

Acccording to the Commissioner, Bello Danmalankara was currently in police custody undergoing discreet investigation.

Also arrested were two people  who supplied bandits with hard drugs and petroleum.

Acccording to the Commissioner, one Aminu Hamisu who was a driver was arrested with large quantity of weeds suspected to be an Indian hemp and some dangerous drugs for the bandits.

Another arrested criminal was Ibrahim Hamisu who was using his unnumbered vehicle in supplying bandits with Petroleum.

The Commissioner commended Governor Bello Matawalle’s security arrangement which he said has been yielding positive results, adding that, the bandits were now finding it very difficult to operate in the state.

He reminded the people of the state that, some security measures put in place by the state government were still in force.

“As follow up to the announcement by the commissioner of information Alhaji Ibrahim Magaji Dosara on some of the security measures put in place by his Excellency the Executive Governor of Zamfara state, let me use this medium to to make clarification that;

1 Bann on carrying more than one passenger on motorcycle is still in force.

2 Bann on the use of motorcycles with clutch in the 13 local government areas and some parts of Gusau local government such as Damba and  Kotorkoshi in Bungudu and Damba in is still in force.

3 Closure of weekly markets with the exception of Gusau is still in force.

4 Restriction of movement in and out of 13 local governments from 6am to 6pm, while in Gusau from 8pm to 6am is still in force 

5 Movement within Gusau metropolitan has been extended to 12 midnight as announced by the commissioner of information.

6 Similarly, all Keke Napep putting additional Cotain to cover passengers has been banned. Keke Napep with such description should be removed immediately.

7 All vehicles with unauthorized tinted glasses should be removed immediately.

8 Vehicles of all description plying the state without plate number would be arrested and prosecuted.

9 The suspension of Communication networks in the 13 local governments is still in force with the exception of Gusau metropolitan.

The Commissioner therefore enjoined members of the public to exercise patience and bear with the situation, adding that it was for their best interest I ensuring peace and security were restored to the state.
