“I left the PDP and joined APC in 2015 where we campaigned for Buhari because we thought that he had the potentials to fight the insecurity issues and other challenges bedeviling the nation”.

“But unfortunately things did not work as we expected”.

“That was why I also decided to dump the APC and return to my former party, the PDP in 2018”.

He called on the PDP members in the state to continue supporting the party, concluding that, “By the grace of God, the party will take over the country as well as Zamfara state in 2023”.

Speaking at the occasion, the former Governor of Sokoto state, Attahiru Bafarawa said, Tambuwal was the right presidential candidate for the party considering his track records of service during his tenure as the Speaker of the national Assembly and his current position as a Governor.

Bafarawa declared that, when Governor Tambuwal contested for the presidential ticket of the party in 2019, he became the second, expressing optimism that, he would clinch the ticket this time around.

In his speech, the Deputy Governor Mahdi Aliyu Gusau assured Governor Tambuwal of the total support from the PDP members in the state.

Gusau told Tambuwal that, PDP was growing stronger and more popular in the state despite the defection of Governor Bello Mattawale to APC.

“Our party is growing stronger and more popular as a result of the Governor’s defection and I am assuring you that, we are going to reclaim the state from APC”.

Barrister Mahdi Aliyu Gusau  described Governor Bello Mattawale as someone who is full of false promises.

Gusau declared that Governor Matawalle has been making lots of promises lamenting that, “Most of the promises are false”.

He said, “When we were declared by the court as Governor and the Deputy Governor respectively, he (Matawalle) declared that, he would never leave the PDP”.

“But the promise has turned out to be false”.

“He also declared that, he would resign his appointment as a Governor if not for the fear that I will take over”.

“I told him that, I would be ready to resign together with him, but up till now he has not fulfilled his promise”.

He advised the Governor to stop fighting the opposition, especially the PDP that has brought him to power.

He also called on the Governor to concentrate on the security of the state instead of wasting time and resources, fighting the opposition.

He maitained that he was ready to work hard to rebuild the party in order to reclaim the state come 2023 elections.
