Senator Aishatu Ahmed Binani, Rt. Hon Abdulrazak Namdas, Alhaji Aliyu Wakili Boya, Alhaji Adamu Garba, Ibrahim Bilal, Hussain Abubakar and late Ibrahim Abdulaziz have bagged the blackcap award during the second merit and award investiture of the organization on Saturday.
Blackcap movement is an Adamawa State based pressure group which seeks to enthrone good governance and justice for all in the society.
Leader of the movement, Mustapha Atiku Ribadu, disclosed that, the award is in recognition of excellent service to humanity, philanthropy and dedication to duty.
He noted that contrary to the belief that the organization is politically motivated, its core objectives is to ensure good governance, provide succor to the less privileged, indigent patients and provide protection for the weak and vulnerable members of the society against human rights abuses.
He noted that in this year’s event, the movement has extended the award to a fruits seller, Mallam Hussain Abubakar for his diligence and commitment to his profession.
Ribadu also noted that the award was also extended to late veteran journalist, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulaziz in recognition to his contributions to the growth and development of the society.
In his remark, chairman of the occasion, professor Murtala Aliyu who thanked the blackcap award and merit board noted that movement is one of the most vibrant and formidable organizations in the state working diligently to entrench good governance and dignity of the human person.
“We must thank Mustapha Atiku Ribadu for organizing and sustaining such a great movement,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the recipients of the awards, senator Aishatu Ahmed Binani, thanked the blackcap movement for such honour.
While urging the movement to sustain its great strides at ensuring equity for all members of the society, Binani said she will continue to maintain ties with the organization.
Also speaking, the guest of honour of the event and former speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hassan Turaki, thanked the organization for rewarding members of the society who gave good account of themselves.
He noted that such gesture will spur others to be good members of the society as they know there is reward for good and excellent conduct.
