Zamfara State Government has Wednesday unveiled Empowerment Programme for IDPs Empowerment Centres across the 14 Local Government Areas of the state.
Speaking while inaugurating the programme, Zamfara State Governor Bello Muhammad, said his administration resolved to prioritise on the IDPs Empowerment Centres taking into cognisance to his firm commitments to the welfare of IDPs in the state.
Matawalle explained that his administration through the Ministry Of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development has been committed towards improving the livelihood of the IDPs and Vulnerable People particularly women and children.
He said for the distribution of the Empowerment Items to the Centres, stakeholders committees were set up with a view to ensuring proper coordination and sustainability.
The Governor who was represented by Zamfara State Commissioner Of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Hon. Fa’ika M. Ahmad said the items included Industrial Machines, Sewing Machines, Tricycle Machines, Grinding Machines, Dignity Kits, Food and non-food items.
He maintained that the event was the second of its kind where IDPs and vulnerable persons have been empowered for self-reliance.
However, the Governor told the gathering that the State Government would ensure monitoring and evaluation of how the items will be managed.
Appreciating Zamfara State Government on behalf of other beneficiaries, Malam Halliru Garba thanked Governor Matawalle and the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs for finding them worthy of the noble gesture.
