Bandits have attacked the residence of the Zamfara state’s commissioner of security, DIG Mamman Tsafe (rtd) killed four persons and abducted other people.
A resident of the area, Malam Mohammed told Analyzer on phone that, the bandits who were in large number invaded the house of the security commissioner on Sunday night yesterday around eight o’clock.
According to him, the commissioner had invited some people to his resident for Ramadan breakfast when the bandits invaded the place and began to shoot.
“Mohammed said, “There were many people in the house who were invited by the commissioner for breaking of the fast when the bandits attacked the place and opened fire”.
“They killed four people including the commissioner’s son and took away unspecified number of people”.
The commissioner of police, CP Ayuba N. Elkana has visited the commissioner’s house today to commiserate with him on the incident.
Efforts to get the the commissioner of security DIG Mamman Tsafe failed as he could not pick up the phone calls.
Meanwhile, the state police command said normalcy has been restored, with improved confidence building patrol in Tsafe and its environ.
In a press release, the spokesperson of the command SP Mohammed Shehu said “The Commissioner of Police, CP Ayuba N. Elkanah, early this morning visited Tsafe town to commiserate with families of victims who lost their lives”
Shehu said the commissioner was there to assess the existing security emplacement of the area with a view to deploying additional re-enforcement that would forestall future attack in Tsafe and its environ.
Shehu added that, while at Tsafe, the CP condoled the Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, Rtd DIG Mamman Ibrahim Tsafe and families of other victims that lost their three sons in the attack.
The Commissioner of Police further directed the State CID to conduct discreet investigation with a view to unravelling the circumstances of the attacks.
He assured that, the deployment of additional joint tactical teams would go along way in improving the security and safety of Tsafe and its environ.
He calledon the residents to improve their synergy with the security operatives, by giving credible and timely information on activities of criminal elements.
