A non governmental organization Mac Arthur Foundation in collaboration with Center for Democratic Developmnet, Research and Training (CEDDET) Zaria has presented reading equipment to Almajiri Migrant Qur’anic schools.
The Director of the center, Professor Abubakar Garba SADIQ stated this while distributing the reading equipment to the beneficiaries in Zaria.
Professor SADIQ explained that the items were distributed under the almajiri migrant Qur’anic schools project of Mac Arthur foundation to support the almajiri system of education across the country .
He pointed out that with thousand of Islamic scholars who have acquired Islamic education, lack of certification is not allowing them to be employed in formal organizations.
He added that a lot of manuscript written by thousands of scholars due to lack of proper care made the documents to disappear.
The Director stressed the need for reknown Islamic scholars’ family that have historical Islamic knowledge background to join hands with the center to revive the mansricpts that were written in Hausa and Arabic languages.
Professor Abubakar SADIQ said the center visited by hundreds of Almajiri migrant Qur’anic schools was in need of social amenities .
The center and Mac Arthur foundation provided potable drinking water, convenience among others.
Some Almajiri migrant Qur’anic schools students expressed happiness with the kind gesture.
The items distributed are set of computer systems, modern projector , loud speaker, cameras as well as school stationeries.
The items were distributed to six Almajiri migrant Qur’anic schools.
The benefiting schools are; Northern History research Scheme ABU Zaria, Center for Qur’anic Studies and Research Federal University Dutsinma. Katsina state and SUBEB Almajiri Model School Yola Adamawa state and Abdullahi Mai Masallaci library and archives KANO state.
The rest are; Qur’anic Science and Memorisation Programme International Organisation of Tijjaniya Brotherhood Zaria and SUBEB Almajiri Model Tsugugi Sabon Gari Zaria.
