The Commissioner of Police Zamfara State Police Command, CP Ayuba N. Elkana has directed Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in the state to ensure that all Police SPY Plate Numbers currently in use in the state whether authorised or otherwise were confiscated.
In a statement signed by the spokesperson of the state police command SP Mohammed Shehu the commissioner has directed that, such spy plate numbers should be confiscated with immediate effect.
The statement added that, “All authorisations for the use of spy plate numbers are hereby revoked indefinitely”.
“This is in compliance with the dirctives of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba regarding the unexceptional ban on the use of Police Spy Vehicle plates Number by Vehicle owners across the federation”.
The Commissioner further directed that, Police officers and officers of other security agencies attached to VIPs who use SPY Plates Number in the state should ensure compliance with the IGP’s order or face arrest for disobedience to the law.
While appealing for continous support and cooperation from all and sundry in this regard, the commissioner cautioned the enforcing Police officers against human rights violation, extortion and other unethical conduct.
He maitained that, Police Taskforce team has been constituted and mandated to go round the 14 LGAs and ensure total compliance.
