Suspected bandits have stormed Kwaikwarasa village in Maiyama LGA of Kebbi State on Friday morning, killed two people and abducted seven others.

Our correspondent reported that amongst abducted were six males and a female.

The bandits who later released one person had invaded the village during a heavy downpour when movements of people was restricted by the rainfall.

The quick response of the vigilante group has helped the situation and minimised the number of abductees.

Governor Nasir Idris has visited the village on Saturday and commensorateed with the people.

The Governor later donated the sum of N10m to the families of the deceased as well as those who sustained injuries resulting from the attack.

The Governor said the present administration under his watch has been giving the security agencies all the necessary support and cooperation towards combating the menace of criminals across the state

“We will leave no stone unturned until we secure the state and make it a place where people will sleep with their two eyes closed, cultivate their farmlands peacefully and go about their normal businesses without any fear of molestation from anybody” He assured.

While appreciating the Governor’s prompt action, the District Head of Andarai, Aliyu Mohammed Liba, appealed to him to use his Executive Powers to rescue the abducted persons and assured that the money donated would be distributed judiciously
