Bandits in hundreds are currently in Zurmi town, the headquarters of Zurmi local government area of Zamfara state.
An indigene of the town Babangida Mohammed said the bandits have been in the town since five o’clock pm today shooting sporadically.
Mohammed said hundreds of people ran into bush while others lock up their houses to avoid being killed or kidnapped by the marauding bandits who were carrying dangerous weapons.
He maintained that, the military personnel deployed to the town to save the situation were grossly inadequate stressing that, the bandits were still shooting and moving from one area of the town to the other.
“He said, “We are in a pathetic situation because the military personnel sent to fight the bandits were not enough”.
“The bandits are currently occupying the town and shooting sporadically while the soldiers are also pursuing the bandits”.
“We are calling on the security agencies to please do something in time before the worth happens”.
“The bandits are in large number, that is why they are not afraid of the military personnel who are here to foil the attack”.
Muhammad further explained that, women and children were currently running Helter skelter as the gunshots continued to roar in the air.
Efforts to speak with the public relations Officer of the state police command ASP Yazid Abubakar have failed as he could not be reached on phone.
