A member representing Maru/Bungudu Federal Constituency in Zamfara state, Honourable Zubairu Abdul Malik, in collaboration with the Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria (IMAN) has embarked on three-day free medical services to over 1,500 women and children in his constituency.
The program started last Thursday at Zubairu Bawa Women and Children Community Hospital in Bungudu town the headquarters of Bungudu local government area of the state.
The hospital was constructed and equipped with medical facilities by Honourable Zubairu.
Hundreds of women and children drawn from Maru and Bungudu local government areas have converged at the occasion for the medical outreach program.
Speaking at the flag-off of the three-day programme on Thursday the National President of the IMAN, Professor Salisu Ismail, of ABU Teaching Hospital Zaria, said they decided to organise the programme in the Federal Constituency was informed by the assistance being rendered to the association by Hon. Zubairu.
Professor Ismail explained that, Honourable Zubairu had rendered much assistance toward the progress of medical profession in his constituency.
He stressed, that the association had mobilised several professionals and medical consultants for the success of the programme in Bungudu.
He commended Hon. Abdulmalik Zubairu for building such magnificent hospital, well equipped with modern medical facilities for women and children in his community.
He called on other political office holders to emulate lawmakers, while also saying the programme would consist of theater, out patient, dental services, eye clinic etc.
In his speech, the Emir of Bungudu, Alhaji Hassan Attahiru, commended Hon Abdulmalik Zubairu for mobilizing such important events to Bungudu and building women and children hospital for the community and beyond.
He further appealed to his subjects to make proper use of the facilities provided for their benefits.
