Victims of the Argungu Central Market inferno have received twenty million naira monetary assistance from Kebbi State Government at a disbursement ceremony performed at the palace of the Emir of Argungu on Thursday.
Governor Nasir Idris at the ceremony represented by his Deputy, Senator Umar Abubakar, urged the officials handling the disbursement to ensure equitable distribution of the funds to the victims to cushion the impact of the losses they incurred in the conflagration.
Governor Idris said although the losses were irreplaceable even with the monetary assistance, the gesture was a mark of concern to the pains such traders were going through and would as well go a long way at ensuring they had a pillar to lean on during hard times like the ugly inferno that negatively touched their lives.
In a remark, the Emir of Argungu, Samaila Muhammad Mera represented by the Kundudan Kabi, Ibrahim Kwaido thanked the Governor for his benevolence, compassion and developmental strides towards improving the quality of life of the people in the Emirate.
The Chairman, Market Traders Association, Argungu Local Government, Labbo Fakon Sarki, expressed immense appreciation to Governor Nasir Idris, the Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Tafida and the Emir of Argungu for putting smiles on the faces of the victims.
Speaking to newsmen at the venue, the Chairman, State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Hon. Bello Yakubu Rilisco, said the disbursement of the monetary assistance was in line with the welfarist policy of Governor Nasir Idris to provide succour to the people of the state under any circumstance.
