GOV Matawalle to host RATTAWU 2020 National Delegates conference

Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle of Zamfara state has pledged to host the 2020 National Delegates Conference of the Radio, Television and Theatre Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU) in the state between November and December, this year.

The Governor, according to the statement signed by the Director General Press Affairs, Alhaji Yusuf Idris  gave the commitment when the national leadership of the union under its National President, Comrade Kabir Garba Tsanni paid him a courtesy call at the Government House, Gusau today.

The Governor said, “with the improved security situation that has been achieved as well as the interest by many international and local investors to come to the state, Zamfara government can now boast of the safety of people’s lives and properties”.

He directed leadership of the union to lias with the office of the state Commissioner of Information and that of the Special Adviser on Media, Communication and Public Enlightenment to organize the event.

The governor who described the media as the major channel of information dissemination between the government and the governed however appealed to the practitioners to always concentrate on positive sides in their reportage especially while reporting issues concerning national security.

He urged practitioners and handlers of social and new media platforms against showing pictures of arrested or killed unrepentant bandits.
Matawalle said “such pictures are always used by the bandits’ leaders in the bushes to undermine peace dialogue such as my peace initiatives which has resulted in the unconditional repentance of hundreds of bandits, rescue of hundreds of kidnapped victims and recovery of hundreds of weapons and rustled livestock in the state”.

Matawalle also used the forum to display to the world 31 kilogram of gold meant for the state’s gold reserve saying the state was the first to have such initiative for its present and future generation and economic growth of new Zamfara.

Earlier, the National President of RATTAWU, Comrade Kabir Garba Tsanni said they were in the state to commend the effort of the governor in bringing lasting peace in the state.

The President who was full of praises on the Governor pleaded on the state government to host the union’s 2020 national delegates conference that would usher in new leaders who will run the affairs of the union in the next four years.
The courtesy call was attended by the Speaker,  Zamfara State House of Assembly, Hon Nasiru Maazu Magarya, Chief of Staff Government House, Col Bala Mande rtd, Head of Service, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe, Deputy Chief of Staff, Dr. Bashir Mohammed Maru.
Others are, Commissioners, Special Advisers, Permanent Secretary office of the Executive Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Jaafar Maradun and Principal Private Secretary, Lawali Umar among others.
