Sani Halliru takes over NLC in Zamfara as Mafara resigns

The Treasurer of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Zamfara state council, Alhaji Sani Halliru has taken over as the chairman of the union, few hours after Comrade Bashir Mohammed Mafara voluntarily resigned.

Comrade Mafara had voluntarily resigned his position yesterday and refused to explain the reason for his resignation despite pressure mounted on him by his colleagues.

There were lots of speculations from the people of the state regarding the sudden resignation of the NLC Chairman.

Many people who spoke to Analyzer news explained that, his resignation was connected to the issue of minimum wage and the payment of pensions.

Others were also of the opinion that, Comrade Mafara had decided to relinquish his position following the appointment of two of his principal labour officers, Comrade Babangida Umar Zurmi as Director General and Comrade Bello Mohammed Maguru as Special Adviser.

With this development, Sa’adu Gwaram, Ahmed Abubakar from NUEE and Babangida Umar Zurmi would now serve as Vice Chairmen.
