Lack of competent security aides by Governor Bello Matawalle has been described as responsible for the persistent insecurity challenges in Zamfara state.
This observation was made by a security expert in the state, Warrant Officer Bello Soja (rtd) while speaking to newsmen in Gusau yesterday.
Alhaji Bello said, “Those appointed by Governor Bello Matawalle to assist him in fight against insurgency have failed him”.
“The security aids of incompetence and lack of security expertise appointed by Governor Matawalle has resulted into the increasing security threats across the state”.
He stressed that, the commissioner of security and Home affairs, Honourable Abubakar Dauran has failed to do the needful.
He Lamented that, the Commissioner has turned into rescueing or getting kidnapped persons released but was not doing anything to bring an end to banditry in the state.
Alhaji Bello therefore called on Governor Matawalle to open his door for more security consultations so that he could get more innovations and ideas on how to get rid of banditry in the state.
He also appealed to the state House of Assembly to, as a matter of urgency provide sustainable and existing law to back up the reconciliation measures taken by the administration of Governor Matawalle in the fight against banditry.
Alhaji Bello expressed disgust over the the attack on Yandoto village describing it as coordinated one aimed at scaring the former Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa.
“It is important for me to stress clearly that recent planned and coordinated attack which is carried out in Yandoton Daji during Senator Marafa’s visit was targeted at scaring our political icon in the person of Senator Marafa”.
