From Maiharaji Altine, Gusau
The Zamfara state commissioner for local governments and chieftaincy affairs, Alhaji Yahaya Chado Gora-Namaye said, his party PDP was ready for the re-run election slated to hold next Wednesday even if the APC withdrows from the contest.
Speaking to newsmen in Gusau today, Alhaji Yahaya Chado said they were fully prepared to participate in the re-run election despite the alleged move by the opposition APC to withdraw.
Chado maintained that, the APC members were the architects of all the crisis recorded during the last Saturday’s state Assembly by-election.
He specifically mentioned Alhaji Muttaka Rini as one of the trouble makers of the APC during the Saturday’s election who was going round with thugs during the election, harassing and intimidating PDP supporters.
Chado stressed that, he was one of the victims of Muttaka Rini’s clueless behavior, explaining that “Muttaka Rini told his thugs to deal with me”.
“I was seriously molested by Muttaka Rini’s political thugs who were throwing sand on me and shouting to me to either leave the place or be killed”.
“He was also insulting our vice chairperson, Hajiya A,i Maradun, calling her all sorts of names”.
Reacting to former Governor Yari’s claim that he snatched a ballot box and went away with it, Alhaji Yahaya said, he was never accused of any political offence for the last 30 years in politics.
“I have never been accused of any political offence throughout my 30 years career as a politician”. Said Chado.
He described the statement made against him by the former Governor as untrue and unfounded.
He also debunked claims by Abdul Aziz Yari that, the PDP had used the security agents to scare away the APC supporters, describing the claims as an attempt by the former Governor to smear the good reputation of PDP members.
