The Zamfara state Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP), Alhaji Faruku Ahmed (Shatiman Rijiya) has described the statement made by the APC Acting National publicity Secretary as an attempt to smear the good records of Governor Bello Matawalle in the fight against banditry.

Recall that, the APC’s Acting National publicity Secretary, Mr. Yakini Nabena has accused one of the North Western Governors of harbouring banditry.

Addressing journalists in Gusau, Alhaji Faruku said, the statement made by Mr. Nabena was nothing but an attempt to dent the good image of Governor Bello Matawalle for political reasons.

Faruku said, “the APC’s Acting National publicity Secretary was fully in the picture of what  happened in Zamfara during the administration of former Governor Abdul Aziz Yari and what is currently now as a result of Governor Bello Matawalle’s peace initiative”.

“I am quite sure that, Mr. Nabena knows that Zamfara state is now enjoying relative peace comprised to what was happening during the eight-year tenure of Alhaji Abdul Aziz Yari”.

According to Faruku, the peace accord initiated by Governor Bello Matawalle has yealded positive results, adding that, the immediate rescue of Katsina students was a testimony to the fact that, dialogue was the best option for ending banditry activities.

He berated the leadership of former Governor Yari who was unable to stop the killings of innocent people in the state.

Faruku stressed that, former Governor Yari was to blame for security problem currently affecting the people of the state, adding that he was responsible for recruiting thousands of Yansakai who have now turned into banditry.

“The former Governor was responsible for the existing insecurity challenges in the state because he recruited some boys called Yansakai and even bought rifles for them for his political ambition.”

Faruku therefore called on the APC scribe to blame Yari who was also a member of the APC and stop apportioning blame on Governor Matawalle who was bent in ensuring lasting peace in the state.
