Crises has engulfed the Zamfara state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP), following the emergence of a faction within the party.
The faction, who called themselves as ‘True Peoples Democratic Party’ under the leadership of Alhaji Bilyaminu Badarawa has also announced the removal of the party’s chairman, Alhaji Tukur Danfulani and his executive members.
Addressing a press conference in Gusau today, the factional leader of the party, Alhaji Bilyaminu Badarawa said, “It becomes imperative to form the “True PDP” in order to salvage the Peoples Democratic Party in Zamfara state from sinking and deterioration under its factional chairman, Alhaji Tukur Danfulani”.
Badarawa said’ “The PDP leadership in Zamfara state is not respecting opinions from its members, elders and other patrons of the party which led it to losing its glory in the state.
“The leadership’s selective justice and “I don’t care attitude” for the plight of its members is another reason why we decided to create a faction within the party”.
“We suffered a lot to ensure PDP excels in Zamfara since inception, while some of the present leaders of the party were in the other parties but unfortunately we are being neglected and uncared for”.
Badarawa expressed disgust over the recent sacking of the Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Faruku Ahmed Shatiman Rijiya which he described as, “lack of focus and capacity of the leadership of the party to lead the party”.
“We are totally disappointed by the untimely and unpopular decision of the Alhaji Tukur Danfulani’s led PDP to suspend a die-hard PDP stalwart and active and amiable publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Faruku Ahmed Shatiman Rijiya which indicates vividly lack of focus and capacity to lead the party”.
“Shatiman’s offence was expressing his opinion, aimed at promoting the party”. Said Badarawa.
He further explained that, “The PDP Chairman in Zamfara state, Alhaji Tukur Danfulani has no time for party affairs, as he is always engaged in Government House instead of him to be in his office at the PDP secretariat”.
“He abandons the constitutional statutory meetings with the party’s stakeholders to the detriment of the party and its supporters in the state”.
“That, as from today, 30th April, 2021, I, as the State coordinator, PDP Grassroots Mobilisation Zamfara state and the new chairman of the True PDP Zamfara state, hereby announce that, Alhaji Tukur Danfulani and his executive members have been expelled from the party”.
“That, as from today, all correspondences, dealings and all other official engagementsof the PDP in Zamfara state should be addressed to the new faction of the party or be contacted in that regard”.
Badarawa stated that, a letter of complaints and notification of the new faction have already been communicated to the Northwest zone office and the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
Reacting to this development, the state’s PDP Secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar said, he was not aware of the new faction of the party.
“I am not aware of this faction. I am hearing this from you for the first time”. Said Umar.
He maintained that, he would find out what was exactly happening, but declined further comments.
