Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state has directed the security agents to effectively implement the Presidential order to shoot at sight, any bandit, person or group of people seen with AK-47 or any weapons.
The Governor dropped this hint when he visited the State’s Police Command’s Headquarters in Gusau to encourage officers and men of the Command in the discharge of their duties.
Matawalle said “Henceforth, only those approved by the law or the security agencies are allowed to carry guns and other sophisticated weapons”.
“Anybody found in unlawful possession of guns should be shot instantly”.
He said his administration was fully in support of the policies and programmes of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration especially in its bid to ensure the security of lives and property of citizens.
He commended the state’s Commissioner of Police and other Heads of security agencies in the state for ensuring quick return of normalcy in Kurya Madaro of Kaura Namoda local Government Area where some unscrupulous elements organised a protest yesterday along Kaura Namoda-Gusau road.
Governor Matawalle while commending officers and men of the Command for their unalloyed commitments in the fight against all forms of criminal activities in the state, enjoined them to sustain the magnitude so as to ensure the sustaince of peace and tranquility in all parts of the state.
He assured the police Commissioner that his administration would continue to support the police and other security agencies with all the necessary logistics so as to discharge their duties effectively.
Responding, the Commissioner of Police, CP Hussaini Rabiu thanked the Governor for the visit, saying the visit would go a long way in boosting the morale and productivity of the police in ending the prevailing security challenges in the state.
