Zamfara Deputy Speaker leads delegation to Kebbi for Constitution review meeting

 The Zamfara State Deputy Speaker,  Hon Musa Bawa Musa has led some members of the state’s House of Assembly to Birnin Kebbi town, the Kebbi capital for a two day Constitution review meeting.


This was contained in a statement by the Director General Press Affairs and Public Relations of Zamfara state House of Assembly, Alhaji Mustafa Jafaru kaura.


According to the statement, the meeting was organised by the House of Representatives special committee for the alteration of 1999 constitution as amended.
 Birnin Kebbi town, the Kebbi state capital is slated to be the centre of the exercise for the core Northwestern states of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara. 


 The Kebbi event would be chaired by House of Representatives member, Hon Adesegun Adekoya Abdul-Majid on behalf of the deputy Speaker House of representatives Rt Hon Ahmad Idris Wase and Chairman Special House of Representatives committee on the review of 1999 constitution. 

The two day event will feature general session, then  high level segment where position papers will be presented  by the participants on critical national issues.

Very fundamental among the issues that will dominate discussions in Birnin Kebbi  according to the working documents  are the resource control, restructuring, State Police, local government autonomy as well as revenue sharing formula. 


 The Birnin Kebbi constitution review exercise is a follow-up to the one in held in Sokoto last week at Sultan Muhammadu maccido Memorial Institute organised by the Special Senate committee on the review of 1999 constitution.


 The Deputy speaiker was accompanied in the trip by the Deputy House leader, Hon Nasiru Bello Lawal Bungudu, Deputy Chief whip Hon Ibrahim Muhammad Tela Bukkuyum and Hon Anas sarkin Fada Kasuwar daji. 


 Others are Hon Aminu Yusuf Jangebe, Hon Nura Dahiru sabon Birnin Dan Ali, The clerk to the House Alhaji Shehu Saidu Anka as well as Director legal services of the House Barr Nasiru Abdullahi Jangebe. 


  The delegation is expected back to the state on Thursday 03/06/2021.
