ZAMFARA ASSEMBLY TO PARTNER WITH MEDIA PRACTITIONERS ON EFFECTIVE INFORMATION DISSEMINATION

The Zamfara State House of Assembly has assured media practitioners working in the state of continued support and corporation in the discharge of their assignment.

The assurance was given last Tuesday by the Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya when the newly elected  Executive members of Correspondents Chapel of the N.U.J. headed by the Chapel’s Chairman, Comrade Sani Haruna Dutsinma paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

The Speaker who described media practitioners as formidable tool for reaching out to the people, also reminded them of the need to adhere strictly to the ethics of their profession.

He said as eyes and ears of the society, media men have a greater role to play in informing the generality of the people of the happenings within their domain hence the need for the legislature to work closely with them.

 He congratulated the new leaders of the Chapel for emerging victorious  at the polls and advised them to use their vast experience and expertise in reporting accurately the activities of the state Assembly in particular and state in general.

The Speaker further maintained that although the information dissemination is not an easy task, the newly elected executive council members of the Correspondents Chapel are up to the task .

“I noted with keen interest the level of media coverage of the House by your members in most of our plenaries, oversight and committee meetings which to me is an encouraging one”.

“I urge you to work tirelessly in order to maintain the tempo”. Said the Speaker.
  He assured that his doors were always open to the media practitioners in the state.

He urged them to always cross-check their facts with the House before going to press, concluding that, “I am willingness to always work with you throughout my tenure”.

Earlier speaking the newly elected chairman of the Chapel, comrade Sani Haruna Dutsinma applauded the efforts of Speaker Nasiru Magarya in effective handling of state Assembly matters and his passion of relating with press men in the state.

Comrade Dutsinma told the Speaker that, he was the first highly placed personality to be visited since their assumption of duty, adding that, “the gesture is because of the love and passion the Speaker has for the press”.

Dutsinma maintained that working journalists in the state were always proud of the quality leadership style of Speaker Magarya and his outspokeness, despite the fact that he was the most youngest Speaker in the country. 

Comrade Dutsinma further said that with Speaker Magarya in the helms of affairs, relationship between media practitioners and leadership of the House would grow from strength to strength. 

The visit was attended by the Deputy Speaker, Hon Musa Bawa Musa Yankuzo,House Leader, Hon Faruk Musa Dosara as well Hon Yusuf Muhammad Anka.
