Zamfara State Government has set up a committee under the leadership of former Managing Director of Zamfara State Newspaper Company ( Publishers of The Legacy Newspaper), Alh. Ibrahim Salihu Na’ayi to review the operations of the company for effective service delivery.
The state Commissioner of Information, Alhaji Ibrahim Dosara made the pronouncement when he paid a working visit to the company, alongside officials of his ministry.
The commissioner who expressed his total dismay over the current condition of the company, assured to do whatever humanly possible to put the company in the right track.
According to him, the State Government under the able leadership of Hon. Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawallen Maradun, ( Barden Kasar Hausa) has constituted a Media Commission with a view to enhancing capacity, standard and quality of media operations in the state.
He said it’s part of the policy of Hon. Bello Matawalle’s administration to ensuring that working Journalists in the government owned newspaper company must be computer literate and shall have general ICT Knowledge.
Earlier, the Managing Director of the newspaper, Alhaji Iliyasu Idris Gusau while expressing delight over the visit, expressed hope that, the re- appointment of the commissioner has brought a joy and hope for the company.
Alhaji Iliyasu Idris Gusau stated that major problems confronting effective operation of the company includes, dilapidated/ obsolete equipments, poor power generation and lack of funds to cater for day to day financial expenses.
The commissioner was accompanied during the visit by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Barrister Sani Nasarawa and Director of Information Services, Mallam Usman Maru, among others.
