The Zamfara State House of Assembly has turned down the report of a bill for a law to promote children and young person’s education in the state and to prevent all forms of distractions during school hours 2021 and also failed to adopt all the recommendations contained in the report.

In a statement, the Director General Press Affairs and Public Relations of the House, Alhaji Mustafa Jafaru said, “The House has however agreed to resend the report to the joint House  Committees on Education, Justice and judiciary to effect some needed amendments and re-submit to the plenary for possible consideration within one week”.

Acccording to Mustafa, the House decision to turn down the report of the bill which is a private bill sponsored by Hon Yusuf Alhassan Kanoma representing Maru North emanated  by the House leader Hon Faruk Musa Dosara shortly after the Speaker of the House Rt Hon Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya allowed a floor for the sponsor of the bill to read the proposed bill at the hallow chamber.

In his observations the House leader, Hon Faruk Musa Dosara while commending the sponsor of the bill and the joint committee of the House for job well done raised  preliminary objections on the report.

The observation of the house leader included among others the issue of Insecurity and upsurge of internally displace persons (IDP’s) in almost all 14 local government areas of the state as a result of bandictry activities as hindrance for the adoption of the report.

Dosara then urged his colleagues to immediately reconvene into  a committee of a whole of the House to critically review and analyse all sectors of the report  before taking any decision on the matter.

Dossra’s  plea received the blessings of Hon Abdulnasir Ibrahim Gayari representing Gummi 2 and Hon Nura Dahiru Sabon birnin Dan Ali a member representing Birnin Magaji constituency.

The House went into committee of a whole and immediately after resumption to plenary, Speaker Nasiru Magarya ruled that it was the recommendation of the House that the report failed to scale to third reading.

The Speaker therefore sent back the report to the joint House Committee on Education, Justice and Judiciary to effect some amendments and re-submit to the plenary in the next seven(7) days to come .

The House also considered a bill for a law to repeal Sokoto state Teachers service Board law cap 39A of 1992 and re- enact Zamfara State Teachers service Board law of 2021 and resolved to give the bill 2nd reading and later committed the bill to the House Committee on Basic, Secondary and non formal Education and directed it to submit its findings in a month’s time .

Speaker Magarya later used his discretionary powers and adjourned plenaries to Teusday next week by 10:00 Am prompt insha-Allahu for the continuation of the House session.
