Zamfara State has commenced the selection of Qur,anic reciters who would represent the state into the forthcoming African Quranic recitation competition slated to hold in Ghana.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the chairman of the event, Malam Nura Bello Alkali Talata-Mafara said, six countries would participate in the competition.
The countries, according to Nura included Niger, Nigeria Ghana, Senegal, Chad and Burkina Fasso.
Nura also stressed that eight states of the federation were selected for the competition where three participants would be selected from each state who would go to kano for another competition.
The states to participate in the competition according to him are, Kano, Sokoto, Oyo Zamfara Kebbi, Kwara, Plateau and Jigawa.
Nura explained that Zamfara state was given the female category who would go for the competition.
He added that, 50 participants drawn from various schools across the state were currently participating in the competition stressing that “only three of them would be selected to go to Kano and finally only three males and three female participants would represent the country in Ghana.
He said, the competition would be concluded next Monday, urging the participants to be do their best in order to be among those to represent the state.
In his presentation, Dr. Bashir Isa of Lawcost Tudun Wada Gusau advised the judges to be just and fair in their judgement and avoid being partial.
He also called on the participants to understand that, the purpose of the competition was not only to get an award, stressing that, their reward was in heaven.
He also called on the quranic memorizers to continue being obedient to their teachers arrogant and avoid pomposit to avoid the wrath of God.
The coordinator of the competition, Makiyyu Suleiman thanked all those who graced the occasion and prayed to God to reward them abundantly.
He also prayed to God to grant them journey mercies to their respective destinations.
