34 Hours Ahead of LG Election: Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission (KESIEC) Disqualifies PDP

Barely 34 hours to the scheduled local government council elections, the kebbi state Independent Electoral Commission (KESIEC) has disqualified the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the contest.

Addressing newsmen shortly after receiving the notice of disqualification, the state Chairman of the PDP Alhaji Usman Bello Suru said the reasons given by the KESIEC were mare plimsy excuses that has no relevance in the electoral process.

He described the KESIEC action as a clear indication that the ruling APC in the state was not prepared for the election knowing fully that they would lose the election.

Suru added that ” we have given the electoral body 24 hours within which to withdraw their letter containing the staged manage notice or the PDP will be left with no option than to seek for legal redress” 

According to him the party has paid all money due for their flag-bearers to the electoral body for both chairmen and councillorship positions and acknowledgement of receipt was issued by the kesiec.

He however, called on the party loyalists, supporters to ignore the unfolding development and remain calm as the party is ready and prepared for a legal tussle.

 Whlle describing the action as highly undemocratic, vicious and carlos, adding ” let us go into contest and let’s see who has the majority” he said

All efforts to secure comments from the official of the KESIEC proved abortive at the time of filing in this report.
