A member of the Zamfara State House of Assembly representing Zamfara east constituency, Honourable Salihu Usman Zurmi, has cried out over what he called persistent attacks, intimidation as well as a threat to his life because he refused to defect to APC with Governor Matawalle.
Hon. Zurmi who is the only state House of Assembly member that refused to join Governor Bello Mattawale to the APC said he has been receiving so many threat to his life from many angles.
He maitained that the problem became worth when he refused to support the impeachment move of the state Deputy Governor, Mahdi Aliyu Gusau.
Zurmi said, “They have been harassing and intimidating me because I refused to support the impeachment of the Deputy Governor”.
“They have been trying to silence me that the impeachment process started”.
“That is why I decided to leave the state and come to Abuja because I Know that the worse could happen if I remain in Zamfara”.
Zurmi expressed displeasure over the persistent attacks and intimidation of the opposition by the administration of Governor Mattawale, lamenting that, it would not auger well for the state.
“Believe me, this will not auger well for the state which is facing security challenges”.
Zurmi said he would never support the impeachment process of the Deputy Governor who he described as a complete gentle man
He also maitained that, he would remain in the PDP no matter what it would cost him, calling on Governor Matawalle to allow freedom of association in the state.
