The Publicity Secretary of Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa’s faction of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Bello Bakyasuwa Maradun has called on the security agents to protect their lives against persistent attacks by political thugs.
Bakyasuwa, who spoke to newsmen after the Court’s session on Thursday lamented how their lawyer and himself were attacked by political thugs in the court premises and nobody was arrested, calling on the security agents to live up to their responsibility.
He said, the Kabiru Garba Marafa’s faction would henceforth defend themselves if the security agents did not come to their rescue.
“I wish to call on the attention of the Nigerian security agencies, that henceforth, if we are attacked again like this or attempted to be attacked, we will have no choice rather than to defend ourselves so long the authorities cannot defend us”.
“We are equally urging the police to as a matter of urgency fish out those behind this attack because we believe they know them”.
“Gentlemen of the Press, You are all aware that the Zamfara State High Court sitting in Gusau has sat to deliberate on the crisis between the Marafa led faction of the APC and that of Governor Matawalle”.
“Unfortunately therefore, I myself being the publicity secretary of the faction and counsel to Senator Marafa faction Barrister J.C Shaka Esq were attacked right inside the Court premises shortly after the presiding Judge adjourned the case to 14th Match 2022”.
“These political thugs or hoodlums stormed the court premises while we were briefing journalists and started hitting us. Although no one was injured but I had to jump to Barrister Musbahu Salahuddeen’s vehicle which was also hit by the hoodlums”.
Bakyasuwa maintained, the political thugs who attacked him in the court premises were on a mission to target and eliminate him.
“We overheard them talking about how to eliminate me because they believed I am a threat to their movement”.
“You may also recall that few days ago, the same Matawalle thugs threatened to destroy the iffice building of the Marafa faction of the party”.
“To say the least, this is anarchy, not politics and Senator Marafa did not subscribe to this”.
He stressed that, “Attacking the Counsel and the Publicity Secretary In broad day light and right inside the court premises should not go just like that”.
” First, I will ask, how do these guys made their way into the court despite the presence of security operatives?”
“Any answer to this will tell us that this is well planed and well targeted at Senator Marafa camp of the APC”.
He described the attack as an act of political destruction perpetrated by the likes if Governor Bello Matawalle and his lieutenants simply because they were beginning to sense failure even before the court ruling was over.
He assured all Marafa supporters that we they not backing out nor submitting themselves to threats like this one.
He said, “We shall continue to follow all the necessary logical ways to end the crisis within our party and to usher in a new lease of life to our people”.
“To the Nigeria Police and all other relevant security agencies in Gusau, the attack today inside the court house was definitely an insult to you all, because court should have been one of the most protected places not an arena to be used by political thugs to unleash mayhem on their opponent”.
