Yarima Former P.A Resigns From National Assembly, Declares Interest for House of Representatives Seat

A one time Personal Assistant to former Governor Ahmed Sani Yarima, Alhaji Abdurrahman Mohammed Tunbido (kogunan Maru) has resigned his appointment from the national assembly and declared his interest to contest for House of Representatives for Maru/Bungudu  Federal Constituency.

Speaking to newsmen in Gusau, Tunbido said he was left with no option but to contest for the seat following a pressure mounted on him by the people of Maru/Bungudu Federal Constituency.

He said, “I resigned my appointment from the national Assembly in order to contest for member house of Representatives under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC)”.

“What informed my decision is an agitation and calls from my people,  looking at my experience and knowledge in the job”.

“I wanted to contest in 2015 but was asked to step down for another person”.

“I also wanted to contest in 2019 but due to the crises within our party I was not able to do so”.
“Now that I am being called again by my people to come out and contest, I have no objection than to accept the offer”.

Tunbido declared that his priority attention if elected to serve as a federal lawmaker was how to end banditry activities in the state.

He maitained that the Federal lawmakers representing Zamfara state are not doing well in terms of banditry affecting the state.
He said, the Federal lawmakers representing the state at the national assembly were not doing much as far as insecurity challenges of the state were concerned.

He maitained that, they were not shouting or crying out whenever there was a banditry attack in Zamfara state.

“They are supposed to cry out at the national Assembly if there is any banditry attack in Zamfara state so that their colleagues and the relevant authorities will come to the aid of the people of the state”.

“I will give full attention on how to end banditry activities in Zamfara state and other states in the country”.

“Every one of you knows that my constituency which is Maru/ Bungudu is one of the areas that are worth hit by banditry, as such, I will concentrate more on how to end banditry if elected to represent the area at the national assembly”.

He also maitained that, he would try as much as possible to sponsor a bill for the amnesty to the repentant bandits just like what former President Yar,adua did to the Niger Delta Militants.

“I will sponsor a bill to grant amnesty to those bandits who have repented so that other bandits will also repent”.

“By so doing, it will come to a day whereby the issue of banditry will be a thing of the past”.

Tunbido also maitained that, he would give priority attention to the welfare of the teeming unemployed youths through job creation so that they would become self employed.

He expressed optimism that, if the youths were gainfully employed and self reliant, the issue of insecurity would be reduced to the bearest minimum.
