Gusau Varsity Gets Full Accreditation For Its 13 Academic Programmes

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has released the results of the January, 2022 accreditation exercise conducted for the 13 academic programmes of the Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) that got interim accreditation during the 2018 accreditation exercise.

The Federal University Gusau in Zamfara state has secured full accreditation for all the 13 programmes being run by the institution.

This was contained in a letter sent to the University through the Vice Chancellor, Professor Muazu Abubakar Gusau and made available to newsmen in Gusau by the information officer of the University, Umar Usman.

The letter was dated on April 14, 2022 with reference No: NUC/ES/412/VOL.14/43 titled “Results of the October/November 2021 Accreditation of Academic Programmes in Nigerian Universities”.

The letter was signed by the Director of Accreditation of the Commission, Dr. Maryam Sali on behalf of the  NUC’s Executive Secretary.

According to the letter, all the thirteen re-accredited programmes in the three Faculties of Science, Humanities, and Education got full accreditation. 

The programmes were Biochemistry, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Microbiology, Plant Science and Biotechnology, Physics, Zoology, English, Hausa, History and International Studies, Islamic Studies and Education Economics.

Commenting on the development, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Mu’azu Abubakar Gusau expressed his delight over the results of the accreditation and thanked the Council for the effort.

Muazu also thanked the  management of the University and the entire staff for their efforts and contributions towards securing full accreditation for the whole re-accredited programmes. 

While expressing his happiness with the results, the Vice Chancellor also appreciated the efforts of all stakeholders who contributed in one way or another to the success of the institution in that regard.

It would be recalled that the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mu’azu Abubakar Gusau, assumed duty as the third substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University in February, 2021.

 On assumption of duty, he channeled most of his energy towards the accreditation exercise as top priority.
