We will continue to descent heavily on thugs no matter their party affiliation —– Bakyasuwa

The Executive chairman, Zamfara state Anti Thuggery Committee, Bello Bakyasuwa Soja has reiterated that he would continue to fight those who engaged in thuggery and other social vices no matter the political party they belong to.

Bakyasuwa made the comment while parading six suspects in his office who were arrested for alleged thuggery and theft.

According to him three suspects were arrested in Government House Gusau for carrying dangerous weapons, while three others were arrested for allegedly stealing paints and other valuables belonging to Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa.

He said, “Today we have arrested three young men who came all the way from Kaduna to work for Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa”

“They have stolen paints and some items from Kabiru Marafa’s presidential campaign office and only God knows what they have stolen apart from the paints”.

“We also arrested three persons right inside the Government House with dangerous weapons”.

He stressed that he went to the Government House in order to enforce the law where he saw some political thugs carrying weapons which was against the Anti Thuggery law.

“We went to Government House today to enforce the law to serve as deterrant to other political parties because our committee is non partisan”.

“I want people to know that we are non partisan. Anybody caught violating the law should be arrested and prosecuted no matter his position or the party he belongs to”.

“The Governor has given us the mandate under the Zamfara State Law No 2 which clearly stipulated that we should fight against thuggery, drug abuse, theft and other social vices”. 

“We are in political era where you will have so many crimes being committed by political thugs and we stand by our feet that we are going to eradicate all these social vices”.

Bakyasuwa therefore advised the youths in the state to shun all acts of thuggery and other social vices, stressing that, “We don’t want to be using force on them at all times”.

He called on parents and guardians to properly look after their wards in order to have a crime-free society.

He also urged the state council of Ulamah to embark on intensive preaching on the dangers of political thuggery and other social vices.

He commended Governor Bello Mattawalle for creating the Anti Thuggery Committee, concluding that, “We will do everything humanly possible to ensure that the 2023 general elections are conducted in a good atmosphere devoid of rancor and acrimony.
