Zamfara terrorists who reject old Naira notes finally collect N7m, release victims

Zamfara terrorists who abducted four people in Kolo village of Gusau local government area in Zamfara state and refused to collect old Naira notes as ransom have finally rescinded their decision.


They now collected the sum of N7m old Naira notes and released their captors.

The abducted persons who included three men and one woman regained their freedom after the ransom was handed over to the terrorists.

Recall that the terrorists have earlier demanded N10m as ransom but after the negotiation, they agreed to collect N5m.

However, as the people of the village were trying to source the amount, the terrorists sent a message to them, telling them that they would not release the kidnapped victims until after the change of new Naira notes.

Speaking to Analyzer on Monday, an indigene of the area, Mohammed Ibrahim said the terrorists rescinded their decision and asked the community to pay the sum of N3m old Naira notes.

Ibrahim lamented that, “Immediately the terrorists received the sum of N3m old notes, they demanded for additional N4 million and threatened to continue holding the kidnapped victims until the money was paid”.


“We have to sell our farms to realize the amount in order to rescue our people because we have no any other option”.

He maitained that, the total sum of N7m was paid to the terrorists and their people were released two days after the payment of the ransom.

Our Reporter tried to get comment from the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Mohammed Shehu but he could not be reached on phone.
