Governing Council Announces New Substantive Bursar, Director PPW & M For FUGUS

The Governing Council of Federal University Gusau has announced Malam Muddassir Musa and Engr. Hassan Adamu Yakasai as new substantive Bursar and Director Physical Planning, Works and Maintenance of the University respectively.

This was contained in a statement by the Information Officer of the University and made available to newsmen on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the announcement was made by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council of the University, Rt. Honorable Yissa Ezekiel Benjamin at the Council’s 26th meeting.

While congratulating the new appointees, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council stated that they were expected to work hard and remain dedicated to duties thereby contributing to achieving the mission and vision of the University.

He added that, “the appointments are for a single term of five (5) years”.

Until his appointment, the new Bursar of the University, Malam Muddassir Musa was a Deputy Bursar, Treasury/Payroll of the Federal University Gusau.

Engineer Hassan Adamu Yakasai, new Director Physical Planning, Works and Maintenance, FUG Gusau

Born on 5th May 1972, Malam Muddassir Musa obtained his National Diploma in Financial Studies (1994); Higher National Diploma in Accountancy (1999); B.Sc. Accounting (2021); Postgraduate Professional Diploma in Accounting and Finance (2005); Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting and Finance (2014) and Master’s in Accounting and Financial Management in 2017.

Malam Muddasir Musa is a member of many Professional Associations such as Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN); Society for Forensic Accounting and Fraud Prevention and Institute of Corporate Executives of Nigeria.

He held many positions at the National Mathematical Centre, Kwali, Abuja – Higher Executive Officer, Final Accounts (2000 – 2003), Senior Executive Officer, Final Accounts (2003 – 2006), Principal Executive Officer, Final Accounts (2006 – 2013) and Assistant Chief Executive Officer, Final Accounts (2013 – 2014).

He transferred his service to the Federal University Gusau in 2014 where he held positions like Assistant Chief Accountant, Treasury/Accounts (2014 – 2015), Chief Accountant, Treasury/Accounts (2016 – 2020), Deputy Bursar, Treasury/Accounts (2020 – 2021) and finally Deputy Bursar, Treasury/Payroll (2021 – to date).

He has been a Chairman, Member and Secretary of many Committees within the University, notable among them are Member, University Bus Committee, Secretary, FUGUS Zakat and Endowment Committee; Member, Staff Verification Committee and Member, Staff Restructuring Committee.

He is currently the Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), FUGUS Branch.
on the other hand, the new Director Physical Planning, Works and Maintenance, Engr. Hassan Adamu Yakasai obtained his B.Eng. Mechanical from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1988); M. Eng. Mechanical (1997) from University of Benin, Benin City.

Yakasai started his career with Water Resources and Engineering Construction Agency as Mechanical Engineer II and Mechanical Engineer I (1989 – 1991) and (1991 – 1995) respectively. He there after worked as Senior Water Engineer, State House Abuja (Aso-Rock Villa) from 1995 to 1997.

Engr. Yakasai held many positions at the National Universities Commission (NUC) such as Assistant Chief Engineer (1997 – 2001); Chief Engineer (2001 – 2007); Chief Academic Standard Officer (2007 – 2008); Deputy Director, Research Analysis (2008 – 2012); Deputy Director, Facilities and Infrastructure (2012 – 2013)

He also served as a Deputy Director, Facilities and Infrastructure, Physical Planning and Development (2013 – 2017) and Head of Procurement, Directorate of the Executive Secretary’s Office (June 2017 to date).


He was also at a time the Acting Director, Physical Planning and Works Department, Federal University, Kashere, Gombe State.

Engr. Yakasai has affiliation with many Professional bodies, notable among them are Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria; Bureau of Public Procurement Conversion Certificate; Registered Member, Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and Corporate Member, Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).

Yakasai has also been a Member, Secretary and Chairman of many important Committees in the NUC, and Federal University, Kashere, Gambe State.

Both Malam Muddassir Musa and Engineer Haasan Adamu Yakasai are happily married and blessed with children.
