A Federal Lawmaker, representing Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal Constituency in Zamfara state Engineer Suleiman Abubakar Gummi has cried out over persistent intimidation and harassment by political thugs allegedly sponsored by an APC stalwart.
Addressing journalists, Hon Suleiman Gummi narrated that, an APC stalwart in Gummi town, Alhaji Maikwarya Gummi has been sponsoring thugs to harass and intimidate him.
Hon Gummi stressed that, on many occasions, his campaign office billboards and posters were being destroyed by the thugs on the orders of Alhaji Maikwarya.
He said, there was a time when the political thugs have attempted to burn down the office he built for PDP at Gummi town”.
“They made several attempts to set the office on fire but were prevented by security agents and good samaritans in the town”. Said Hon Suleiman.
He maitained that the APC stalwart Alhaji Maikwarya was not comfortable with his growing popularity in the area that was the reason why he was trying to use thugs to humiliate and intimidate him.
Hon Gummi further disclosed Maikwarya has once told his supporters that even if they killed a PDP member, nothing would happen.
Hon Suleiman commended the security personnel in the area for their efforts in maintaining peace and order.

The Zamfara state chairman of Anti thuggery, drugs abuse and other crime related offences committee, Alhaji Bello Mohammed Bakyasuwa told one of our reporters that he was not aware about the incident.
Bakyasuwa however promised to investigate into the issue with a view to bringing those who were involved to justice.
He maintained that his committee would work according to its schedule in order to ensure peaceful conduct of the forthcoming general elections in the state.
He warned that his committee would not condone any act of thuggery that could destabilize the existing peace in the state.
Bakyasuwa said that, his committee was none political, concluding that anybody caught violating its rules would be decisively death with no matter his political inclination.
