Leaders and large number of supporters of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP and New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress in Zamfara state.
In a statement by the Media Assistant to former Governor Yari Dahiru Samaila Mafara, the decampees were received by former Governor Dr. Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar who is also the state chairman of APC Gubernatorial Campaign Council.
The statement added that, the decampees were brought to the former Governor through the Gubernatorial Campaign Council Contact and Mobilization subcommittee chairman, Alh. Musa Zubairu in the company of the state APC chairman, Alh. Tukur Danfulani Maikatako
Dr. Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar commended the decampees for their visionary foresight and assured them to carry everybody along.
PDP leaders who dropped their party along with their large number of supporters, are the Zamfara state Coordinator for the Actualization of Dauda Lawal Aspiration, 2023
Others are secretary of the AKF Foundation Mal. Aminu Saminu and the treasurer, Hajiya Umulkhairi Aminu.
Decampees from the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP are, Alh. Ibrahim son Allah Shinkafi , the Zamfara North Senatorial candidate of the party, House of Representatives candidate of the party for Shinkafi and Zurmi LGs, Alh. Suleiman Garba Zurmi and the state NNPP treasurer, Suleiman Idris Galadi.
The rest NNPP executives who decamped to APC are the local government party chairman for Zurmi and his counterpart of Kaura Namoda local government.
In their separate speeches, Alh. Aminu Adamu Kanoma of PDP and Alh. Ibrahim son Allah Shinkafi of the NNPP both disclosed that they took the decision to cross carpet to APC because they were convinced with the benevolence and good leadership of the state APC Gubernatorial Campaign Council chairman, Dr Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar ( Shattiman Zamfara).
They expressed conviction, that with Dr. Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar leading APC campaign in the state, victory is almost very certain.
Among other APC Critical stakeholders present during formal reception of the new members are, Director General of the APC Gubernatorial Campaign Council, Sen. Tijjani Yahaya Kaura, Senator representing Zamfara North, Sen. Sahabi Ya’u Kaura, former APC State chairman, Hon Lawal M Liman Gabdon Kaura and the permanent secretary office of the former Governor, Alhaji Sa’ad Muhammad Faruk among others.
