Governor Matawalle of Zamfara state has signed the 2023 budget into law and promised to redouble efforts in addressing the issue of security and other development challenges confronting the state.
Speaking during the signing of the budget in government house on Friday, Matawalle said the security and social support took the lion’s share of the 2023 budget.
Matawalle said, “I assure all people of Zamfara state that we will redouble our efforts in addressing the issue of security and other development challenges confronting our State in the coming years Insha Allah”.
He maintained that apart from security and social support his administration has allocated significant resources towards the improvement of education sector, with a focus on increasing access to quality education for all the children.
“We have also prioritized the development of our healthcare system, with a focus on improving access to healthcare services in our rural areas”. Said Matawalle.
Matawalle explained that his administration has also allocated funding towards the development of infrastructure projects that will help to stimulate economic growth and create jobs for the people of the state.
“These projects include the completion of the ongoing cargo airport project and the construction of new roads, bridges, and other infrastructure that will help to connect our communities and facilitate the movement of goods and services”. Said Matawalle.
He stated that, his administration would also accord priority attention to social sector
“As I stated, social support is one of the key priorities of my administration in the coming year”.
“This involves significant investments in social programs that will benefit our people directly”.
“These include initiatives to support small scale businesses, as well as programs that aim to reduce poverty and increase access to basic necessities such as clean water and electricity”.
“I am confident that these investments will have a positive impact on the lives of the people of Zamfara State, and I believe that they represent a strong foundation upon which we can build a brighter future for our State in the coming year”.
The Governor called on civil servants, who are responsible for the implementation of public policies and programmes, political office holders, and all government officials to brace up for the crucial task of implementing the budget.
He thanked the people for their unflinching support to his administration.
“We have seen a wonderful show of love and support within the past few days since we started our electioneering campaign”.
He also commended members of the state house of Assembly for their support and cooperation as well as their untiring effort in passing the budget without delay.
“I wish to express my profound appreciation to the House for working hard round the clock to pass this budget within 13 days”.
“This is a further pointer to the cordial relationship between the Executive and the Legislative arms of government since the inception of our administration in 2019”.
“As a Government, we are entrusted with the critical responsibility of generating, managing, and allocating resources for the development of our State and the promotion of the well-being of our people”.
“It is our duty to ensure that the needs and aspirations of our communities are met through the allocation of resources in a responsible and transparent manner”.
“I am pleased to say that the 2023 budget we are signing into law today reflects this commitment to the people of our dear State”. Concluded Matawalle.
