The Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) Zamfara State, has donated the sum of N50,000 to a nine months old child born with imperforate anus.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary of the chapel, Abdullahi Abdulrahaman Chakwa.
The chapel appealed to the three tiers of government, wealthy individuals, groups and organizations to also made their donation in order to save his life.
The Chapel chairman, Comrade Sani Haruna Dutsinma made the call while presenting the N50,000 donation for the child’s surgery at Saminaka area of Gusau.
Dutsinma explained that, the child was born with imperforate anus which makes it difficult for him to pass excreta.
The parents of the child according to Dutsinma took him to the Federal Medical Center Gusau for medication, but later transferred him Usumanu Danfodio Teaching hospital in sokoto.
The Father of the child Malam Lawali Ibrahim told the Journalists that, N300,000 was spent at UDUS for the child to have a temporary excretory system.
According to Malam Lawal, “after series of medical tests and diagnosis at Usmanu Danfodio Teaching Hospital Sokoto, N300,000 was projected for emergency operation to provide a temporary excretory system by the side of his ribs (child)”.
According to him, he was left with no option other than to sell his motorcycle which he was using for commercial purposes to feed the family in order to serve the life of the child as his relations have also contributed the little they have.
He maitained that he was directed to take the child back to UDUS after three month for another round of surgeries, lamenting that, “N500,000 bill was demanded from him for the second surgical operation.
Malam Lawali therefore called on Zamfara State Government, wealthy individuals, Zakkat and Endowment Board, cooperate organizations as well as Medical Doctors Association of Nigeria, to assist him to save the live of this baby.
Malam Lawali Ibrahim also applauded the efforts of the NUJ Correspondents Chapel for informing the public about the health condition of the child and also donating N50,000 cash as their assistance.
