Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State has assured corps members posted to the state of adequate security.
The Governor gave the assurance while declaring open “2023 batch A Stream 1” of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) at Dakingari in Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
He said that their safety was a catalyst for national growth and development
About 1,300 corps members officially reported to the camp .
The governor who was represented by his Deputy, Retired Col. Sama’ila Yombe-Dabai, also explosion that the state government would do everything possible towards their general welfare and wellbeing.
The governor restated that Kebbi State “is peaceful, and directed various security agencies in the state to double their efforts towards ensuring that adequate security measures are put in place.”
He observed that the orientation had been put together to discipline, prepare and equip the corps members morally and physically for the challenges of service geared towards nation building.
The Governor charged them to take every segment of the orientation course seriously and utilise the benefits of their lectures while on camp as it will enhance your performance to impact positively on your host communities.
He reiterated that the Kebbi State Government would do everything possible within its capacity to ensure a conducive and secure environment during and after your orientation course.
Earlier, the NYSC Coordinator in Kebbi State, Mrs Okolo Agatha-Banki said the essence of orientation camp was to equip the corps members with practical skills requisite for their service year.
She appealed for intervention of Kebbi State Government in the areas of female hostel completion, construction of additional staff quarters as well as the raising the parameter fence to further boost the security of the camp.
While encouraging the corps members to brace up to the camp challenges, Agatha-Banki urged them to be disciplined and operate according to the rules and regulations governing the camp.
The oath of allegiance was administered by Chief Justice of Kebbi State, Justice Abubakar Umar, represented by Justice Hassan Shehu-Kuwa.
