Irate youths celebrating PDP victory in Zamfara state have destroyed several properties and billboards belonging to the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Checks by PUNCH have shown that, almost all the billboards and office buildings belonging to APC were destroyed and properties worth millions of Naira were carted away by the youths during the PDP victory celebration.
Many doors and windows of APC buildings were removed and taken away by the youths.
Based on this, the state government has enforced a statewide curfew from 8 o’clock pm to 6 am.
In a statement, the commissioner of information, Ibrahim Dosara said, the state government has noticed with dismay, the wanton destruction and vandalisation of government and public properties and assets.
Dosara said, “Several innocent citizens are being inflicted with various degrees of injuries in the name of celebration of yesterday’s declaration of Governorship election results”.
“Reports available to the government indicated that lives were lost, houses and personal effects destroyed and shops were burgled”.
“To guard against these acts, government finds it imperative to impose statewide curfew from 8 pm to 6am until peace is restored”.
“Security agencies are therefore directed to ensure compliance”.
