Zamfara govt ready to fight banditry, kicks against negotiation process

Zamfara state government has vowed to wage serious war against banditry, stressing that it would not negotiate with bandits no matter the pressure.

Addressing journalists in his office on Tuesday, the Secretary to the state government, Abubakar Nakwada said the state government would wage war against bandits until they were completely eliminated in the state.

Nakwada said the Administration of Governor Dauda Lawal has no plan to initiate any reconciliation or have discussion with the bandits.

He maitained that the state government would go after them wherever they might be hiding in order to flush them out of the state to restore peace.

Reacting to the recent confiscation of vehicles belonging to the former Governor Bello Mattawalle, Nakwada warned that, the present administration of Dauda Lawal would not leave any stone unturned in its effort to recover the stolen vehicles.

Nakwada stressed that any public officer who was found wanting in the discharge of his or her duty would face the consequences.

He  accused the immediate past administration of Governor Bello Matawalle of expending N17.5 billion for the construction of the International Cargo Airport, lamenting that, nothing meaningful was done over the project.

He  announced the immediate suspension of all Permanent Secretaries appointed by former Governor Bello Mattawalle after the 2023 General elections.

He also announced that, all district and village heads appointed from December 2022 to May 2023 this year were suspended with immediate effect.

Similarly, the government has revoked all land allocations in Gusau town the state capital because the allocations were not done in accordance with the law.
