Sokoto State government has expended the sum of N523.3 million on the registration fees of her students studying in Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto.
The Sokoto state chapter of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Students Association, disclosed this is in a press conference with journalists in Sokoto.
The chapter commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu, for the payment of the school registration fees.
The chairman of the association, Comerade Abdullahi Aliyu, while addressing a press conference on Sunday said the payment covered hundred percent payment of over 7,000 indigenes of the state studying in usmanu Danfodiyo University.
The chairman said, “The previous government failed to pay Sokoto State students studying in UDUS their registration fees for good three sessions which led to the students unrest and discomfort.
“This has made the management of UDUS to boldly take a decision of disallowing us to write examination unless we pay for the registration fees”
He thanked the Governor for the payment, stressing that “He has restored hope to the entire Sokoto students across different higher institutions of learning”
“From the foregoing, you may need to know that students from UDUS who are indigenes of Sokoto State have enjoyed the gesture made by the Governor of making full payments of students registration fees for the session of 2022/2023”
