Four worshipers were said to have died while seven others sustained injuries following the collapse of some parts of an oldest Zaria Central Mosque.
Our correspondent in Zaria reported that the incident occured on Friday during Asar prayer.
According to him, all of a sudden the affected portion of the mosque collapsed on those sitting directly under it.
Addressing newsmen, the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli expressed shock over the incident and sympathized with the victims.
He prayed prayed to Allah to forgive those who have died in the incident and give their families the fortitude to bear the loss.
The emir explained that the emirate would take necessary measure to renovate the mosque.
He directed the closure of the mosque and urged the worshipers to stop observing prayers in it until further notice.
